Complete Genome Sequence of the Avian Pathogenic Escherichia coli Strain APEC O18

Colibacillosis, caused by avian pathogenic Escherichia coli (APEC), is one of the most significant infectious diseases affecting turkeys, layers, and broilers. Here we describe the sequence of first APEC O18 serotype fully complete and closed. This O18 strain was isolated from the pericardium/lung of a chicken. Functional analysis of the genome will enhance the community’s knowledge of the pathogenesis of avian pathogenic E. coli.

禽大肠杆菌病（Colibacillosis）由禽致病性大肠杆菌（avian pathogenic Escherichia coli, APEC）引发，是危害火鸡、蛋鸡与肉鸡的重要传染性疫病之一。本研究首次报道了一株全闭合完整的APEC O18血清型菌株的基因组序列。该O18菌株分离自一只鸡的心包与肺组织。对该基因组开展的功能分析，将有助于学界深化对禽致病性大肠杆菌致病机制的理解。
