Polypodium hydriforme is an enigmatic cnidarian parasite of acipenseriforme fishes. This genome was sequenced in order to confirm the cnidarian affinity of P. hydriforme as well as to facilitate the discovery of developmental genes and other candidate genes that can help us understand the evolution of this taxon.
