Shotgun metagenomic sequencing of microbiome of raw milled material from vendor-supplied house dust mites

House dust mite extract (HDM) is a commonly employed allergen in mouse model of allergic airway inflammation, HDM stimulation induces both type 2 and type 17 immune responses. Previous studies showed microbial component LPS is present in HDM extract, which is known as strong regulator for type 17 immune response. However, the microbial compositions of HDM from commercial vendors have not been fully described. In this study, we performed metagenomic sequencing on milled raw materials from Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus culture provided by several commercial vendors and we demonstrated the presence of sequences associated with various bacteria, fungi and viruses in HDM from different vendors.
