资源简介:
Recent researches have revealed that the gut microbiome involved in various health condition through metabolites including short-chain fatty acids and bile acids produced by microbiota. In the analysis of their relationships, the appropriate collection, handling, and storage of fecal specimens are rigorously required, and the convenient specimen handling processes will facilitate such investigations. Here, we have developed a novel preservation solution to stabilize fecal microbiota and organic acids such as SCFAs and BAs in room temperature. In this present study, we collected the fecal samples from nineteen healthy adult volunteers, and stored them at room temperature with a novel preservation solution and at minus 80 temprature without preservative up to four weeks to evaluate the usefulness of novel developed preservative solution. In results, we found that the profiles of microbiome and organic acids were stably maintained at room temperature with a novel preservation solution for 28 days. Our results suggest that this convenient procedure to obtain a fecal sample for collecting gut microbiome and gut metabolome can contribute to accumulate further understandings of the health effects of gut microbiome via fecal metabolites.
