Plant compartments of faba bean and wheat under different cropping regimes Targeted loci environmental

Multiple cropping systems provide several economic and ecological advantages such as enhanced plant productivity. Therefore, they offer great potential for the sustainable intensification of agriculture. Several bacteria and fungi in the plant’s rhizosphere and endosphere are beneficial to plant nutrition acquisition, health, and growth. Although playing essential roles in ecosystem functioning, our knowledge about the microbial response towards multiple cropping systems and their diverse interactions between each other is still rather limited. Hence, we studied microbial communities in bulk and rhizosphere soils as well as in the roots and aerial plant parts of wheat and faba bean plants growing in monocultures and as mixtures.
