In mixotrophic algal cultivation in open systems using wastewater, bacterial presence are unavoidable. That results in a risk of algal culture collapse as bacteria grow faster than algae in the presence of dissolved organics in the medium. However, bacteria also have positive effecta on algal growth according to the previous studies. Therefore, an investigation of bacterial dynamic in the mixotrophic algal cultivation is needed to a susccessful operation.
