A poster presented at the International Conference in Systems Biology 2011 in Mannheim and Heidelberg. It shows that, by modelling circadian clocks using binary logic instead of systems of ordinary differential equations (ODEs), we can reduce the number of parameters by ~75% without any loss of the key propoerties of interest in circadian systems. The framework shows responses to changes in photoperiod consistent with ODE models and can be used in infer network structure from experimental data. The framework uses a smaller parameters set and also a finite and discreet range of parameter values making global global parameter sweeps possible for the first time, for the Neurospora and Arabidopsis models shown here.
