Induction of nuclear calcium oscillations in <i>Medicago truncatula</i> root epidermal cells by glucan-chitosaccharide fractions^a.

aTwo to three root fragments from cameleon-expressing root organ cultures where treated by glucan-chitosaccharides at a concentration of 1 mg.ml−1. The ratio of YFP to CFP light emissions from eight to eleven cells per root fragment was monitored over the time. Cells were counted responsive if at least 2 oscillations were observed over the 20–30 min imaging period. A root fragment was considered to be responsive when there was at least one responsive cell. bAll genotypes are in the Jemalong cultivar, A17 accession.
