A novel ephemerovirus (Family: Rhabdoviridae; Genus: Ephemerovirus) was identified in a blood samples of a symptomatic cattle from Hefer Valley, Israel. High throughput sequencing revealed the full viral genome sequence with a length of 15,033 nt, encoding ten open reading frames. The overall genomic architecture was consistent with that of other members of the genus Ephemerovirus. The maximum nucleotide identity of the Hefer Valley virus to other species within genus Ephemerovirus was between ~71% and ~78% for L and N genes, respectively. These findings suggest that the virus may represent a novel species within the genus Ephemerovirus.
