Changes in the Public Homebased Care

The project constitutes a continuation of Kari Wærness' work on home-based care in the late 1970s. The purpose of the project was to gain insight into fundamental processes and changes in home-based care. Information was collected through participant observation and interviews with home helpers, home nurses, and recipients of their services. Information was also gathered through questionnaires answered by home helpers and home nurses in the Bergen district. Based on this information, it is evident that home-based care involves a meeting between a professionalized and institutionalized culture, and a housewife and care culture.
