Determination of the epitope specificity of monoclonal antibodies against the inner core region of bacterial lipopolysaccharides by use of 3-deoxy-D-manno-octulosonate-containing synthetic antigens.

The mAb reacted with the epitope in linear multiples. The antigen inhibited passive-hemolysis of epitope-specific mAb. The epitope-specific mAb also showed positive reactivity with the eptiope in an immunoprecipitation assay.
