To study the intrusion of the North Pacific waters into the South China Sea via Luzon Strait, the Sea-Wing underwater glider was used to conduct a high-resolution sampling in the South China Sea during April to June 2015. The North Pacific Intermediate Water (NPIW), with its core salinity of 34.35-34.40 ‰, distributed in the range of 350-500 m in depth and 26.5-26.8 kg·m-3 in potential density. The Kuroshio Water (KW), with its core potential temperature of 20.0-24.8 ℃ and core salinity of 34.70-34.85 ‰, located in the range of depth of 70-150 m and density of 23.5-24.5 kg·m-3.
