Supplementary Material for Bader et al. "Decoding hunter-gatherer-knowledge and selective choice of lithic raw materials during the Middle and Later Stone Age in Eswatini"

This repository contains data produced for the publication titled "Decoding hunter-gatherer-knowledge and selective choice of lithic raw materials during the Middle and Later Stone Age in Eswatini", published in "Journal of Archaeological Science". It contains final and intermediate results as well as reproducible scripts for (i) the geospatial analysis of least cost networks and (ii) the geomorphic provencance studies of chert sources. Both analyses use the freely available COPERNICUS GLO-30 digital elevation model (https://doi.org/10.5270/ESA-c5d3d65). Geological map data in the file "chert_geology_council_for_geosciences_1mio.gpkg" were derived from the freely available "Simplified Geological Map 1:1 Mio", distributed by the South African Council for Geoscience (CGS). The geomorphological analysis was conducted in SagaGIS. Least cost past modelling was performed using the R package "leastcostpath".
