Species list and functional group classification of the 60 plant species used in the Jena Experiment

This dataset provides the complete list of the 60 plant species used in the Jena Experiment, including their Latin (scientific) names, abbreviated short names, and assigned functional groups. These species represent a broad range of Central European grassland flora and were selected to vary in key functional traits related to resource acquisition, growth form, and phenology.

The dataset was created to provide a standardized reference for all experiments and analyses conducted within the Jena Experiment. It facilitates consistent species identification, data integration, and comparison of biodiversity–ecosystem functioning relationships across different sub-experiments and years.
