Dataset in support of the thesis "Voluntary disclosures: Three empirical studies in corporate political disclosure "

The dataset was compiled from multiple publicly available and subscription-based archival sources. Corporate political disclosure data were downloaded from the CPA-Zicklin Index website. Executive data were obtained from ExecuComp. Financial and accounting data were collected from Compustat and Bloomberg. Lobbying expenditures and contributions to 527 organizations were obtained from the Center for Responsive Politics (CRP). Contributions by PACs were obtained from the FEC website, and state-level spending data were extracted from the National Institute on Money in State Politics.

Data from the different sources were cleaned, and merged at the firm-year level. The final dataset was screened for duplicate observations, inconsistencies across merged records, and missing or incomplete identifiers.
