The open field assay is influenced by room temperature and by drugs that affect core body temperature

The data demonstrate how changes in core body temperature influence locomotor activity. Open field was performed at 25C and 4C in C57BL/6 mice and TRPM8-/- mice. Mice were also treated with diazepam and the TRPM8 antagonist, M8-B, to demonstrate these changes in locomotor activity are affected by changes in core body temperature. Data also show how different buildings on the same campus can be maintained at different temperatures and show how these can vary based on the season.
