Genomic analysis

This study reports on 13 new cases of human melioidosis diagnosed in New Caledonia in 2021 and 2022. Genomic analyses, including whole genome sequencing and virulence gene profiling, were performed on these strains. The results were compared with previously reported cases from New Caledonia and the neighbouring Asia-Pacific region. The objectives were to elucidate the genetic diversity of B. pseudomallei in New Caledonia and to identify specific markers that could help to identify sources of contamination and potentially link cases.
