Early life Pichia and asthma

Mice were orally exposed to the organism Pichia kudriavzevii or vehicle control in neonatal life and the severity of allergic airway disease was assessed later in life. We examined the composition of the gut microbiota bacteriome on day 16 of life, at four weeks of age, and at sacrifice (~eight weeks of life).In another experiment, we assessed the microbiota of germ-free animals given allergic airway disease two weeks following repopulation with a fecal transplant from four-week-old conventional animals exposed or not to P. kudriavzevii (as described above).
