Dynamic DNA structure states interact with the RNA editing enzyme ADAR1 to modulate fear extinction memory

The goal of the research effort for this data set was to determine the sites in the genome where ADAR1 bound to DNA in activated and non-activated neurons derived from behaviourally trained animals.The samples were derived from C57BL/6J male mice that were subject to either 3CS-US fear conditioning in context A followed by 10 CS in context B, or fear conditioned followed by an equivalent amount of time spent in context B without any presentations of the CS. The medial prefrontal cortex was then extracted from these animals and fluorescence activated cell sorting was performed to isolate neurons with either high or low levels of the immediate early gene Arc. These samples were then subject to ADAR1 immunoprecipitation with anti-ADAR1 antibody followed by genome wide sequencing.
