Effect of melatonin in rats exposed to herbicides

Purpose: There are no reports in the literature on the effects of MLT in rats with acute intoxication by sub-lethal doses of associated PQ and Roundup®. There are also no reports in the literature on the effects of MLT in rats submitted to acute intoxication with sub-lethal doses of the mixture of herbicides PQ and Roundup®. Exogenous MLT as a hepatoprotective to improve the liver´s morphofunctional indicators has been raised as a hypothesis. This paper aims at reporting the effects of herbicides PQ and Roundup® on the biochemical indices of liver function, hematological parameters, histopathology, oxidative stress and body weight in albino Wistar rats.
