Sulfide data for sediment samples that were included in global seep survey from R/V Atlantis cruise AT15-40 and Alvin Dives in the Guaymas Basin in 2008 (Guaymas Basin Vents project, Guaymas Basin interactions project)

Sulfides in Guaymas Basin hydrothermal sediments (Southern Spreading segment, 27°00.44N and 111°24.55W, 2000 m water depth). During two R/V Atlantis cruises to Guaymas Basin, the association of Beggiatoa mats with hydrothermal seepage and the habitat preferences of various Beggiatoa types were investigated by geochemical and microbiological characterization of sediments underneath Beggiatoa mats in combination with temperature measurements down to 40 cm sediment depth. In particular, temperature profiles and corresponding sulfide, sulfate, dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC), delta 13C-DIC, methane, and delta 13C-methane gradients from mats exhibiting orange-to-white color transitions were examined to elucidate hydrothermal fluid delivery and/or tolerance associated with differently colored Beggiatoa types.瓜伊马斯盆地热液沉积物中的硫化物（南部扩张段，北纬27°00.44′、西经111°24.55′，水深2000米）。在两次搭乘亚特兰蒂斯号（R/V Atlantis）科考船前往瓜伊马斯盆地的航次中，研究人员通过对贝氏硫菌（Beggiatoa）菌席下方沉积物开展地球化学与微生物学表征，并结合沉积物深度达40厘米的温度测量，探究了贝氏硫菌菌席与热液渗漏的关联，以及不同类型贝氏硫菌的生境偏好。尤其针对呈现橙-白色过渡特征的菌席，对其温度剖面以及对应的硫化物、硫酸盐、溶解无机碳（dissolved inorganic carbon, DIC）、δ¹³C-DIC、甲烷、δ¹³C-甲烷的浓度梯度进行了分析，以阐明与不同颜色贝氏硫菌类群相关的热液流体输送过程及耐受特性。
