Triatoma infestans isolate:FIOC_28 Genome sequencing and assembly

Triatoma infestans (Hemiptera:Reduviidae) is the major insect vector of Chagas disease (American Trypanosomiasis), the neglected tropical disease with the highest social and economic impact in Latin America. Genomic analysis facilitates targeted control of disease vectors, but despite the impact of this disease, very little information is known about the genetics and physiological characteristics that lead to differences in epidemiological importance between the Triatominae species. This study sequenced and assembled the genome of the domiciliated lineage of Triatoma infestans.
