This dataset comprises the results of an experimental study investigating the regulatory functions of miR-221 in the context of Herpes Simplex Virus Type 1 (HSV-1) infection and overexpression (OE) of miR-221. The study focused on exploring the impact of miR-221 on HSV-1 replication and the modulation of host immune responses, particularly in relation to the calcium signaling pathway involving CAMK2A.HeLa cells were used as the experimental model, and transfection conditions were optimized for the delivery of miR-221. The effects of miR-221 on HSV-1 replication were evaluated using a Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8) assay. Efficient transfection of HeLa cells with miR-221 was confirmed through fluorescence microscopy. The study revealed that miR-221, particularly at a concentration of 100 nM, significantly inhibited HSV-1 replication. This inhibition was associated with alterations in the expression of CAMK2A and impacted pathways related to the complement system, cell adhesion, and immune responses.
