Azalomycin F induces cryptic natural product biosynthesis gene clusters in Aspergillus nidulans. In an effort to evaluate whether we can isolate producers of similar compounds from soil we isolated two streptomycetes from a soil sample that also induced cryptic NP BGCs in A. nidulans. In order to identify the involved bacterial natural products the genomes of these streptomycetes were sequenced.
