OATS_201401 Video studies of older adults with novel keyboards

Older Adults Text-entry Studies (OATS): 2014-01 Video Session, individual tests and exposure to novel input methods Summary: Our goal was to gain some understanding of how older adults react to different types of keyboards on mobiles, which may not be familiar to them. We asked participants to perform copy and image description tasks using the following keyboards - T9 (12-key) - 20-key layout - Swype Participants were videoed during the tasks and semi-structured interviews followed after each keyboard had been tried out by participants. Study date January 2014老年用户文本输入研究（OATS，Older Adults Text-entry Studies）：2014年1月视频会话阶段，涵盖单项测试与新型输入方法体验环节。研究概述：本研究旨在探明老年用户对移动端各类键盘的使用反应，此类键盘对老年群体而言可能并不熟悉。我们邀请参与者使用以下三类键盘完成文本复制与图像描述任务：T9（12键布局）键盘、20键布局键盘以及Swype输入法。研究过程中对参与者的任务完成全程进行录像，且在每位参与者试用完一款键盘后，均会开展半结构化访谈。本研究实施时间为2014年1月。
