Photoperiod-induced wingbud RNA-seq across development in a water strider

Differential expression was carried out on extracted RNA from wing buds of nymphs of the water strider Gerris buenoi. These were exposed to different photoperiods, which trigger the development of different developmental routes that result in differences in wing length in adult individuals. The observed changes in expression provided a template for further functional validation of the role of multiple genes in mediating the process.
