The role of pyruvate kinases in the strawberry fruit development and ripening

Pyruvate kinases take part in various biological processes including seed development, flowering, biostress or abiostress resistance. However, the detail role of PKs in the fruit ripening process is still unclear. We identified a cytosolic PK from strawberry plants and investigated the systematical changes of gene expressions via transient overexpression of FaPKc2.2 in the fruits. The results demonstrated the underling genetic mechanism that confers the negative mediation role of FaPKc2.2 in the fruit ripening regulation.
