Developed using several input datasets and an expert model based on knowledge of the effects of land use and land management practices on vegetation. Source information for the VAST dataset was drawn from national datasets collated between 1995 and 2006 before being merged. Results of merge were checked against a native vegetation extent dataset to ensure that native vegetation had been classed accurately. A number of steps followed to create the VAST Version 2 dataset.
