CGMMV is a positive-sense ssRNA tobamovirus that infects cucurbit crops. The distribution of the virus is expanding with the increasing global movement of cucurbit seeds due to the ability of virus particles to be present on and inside the seed coat. The aim of this project was to explore the genetic diversity of the virus from different locations around the world, with the ultimate goal of improving molecular detection assays.
