The Russian soil moisture data set consists of measurements of plant
available soil moisture using gravimetric techniques from 50 stations.
The entire data set covers the years 1952-1985, but the spatial extent
of these data is very poor until about 1975 (see RUSWET data
documentation). The data comprises two files: soil moisture
measurements taken three times a month and a seasonal cycle file
consisting of mean monthly values.
Data are freely available from the Global Soil Moisture Data Bank at:
