[IO Islamic 1432] ترجمة الفرج بعد الشدّة

Tarjuma-i-Kitâb-alfaraj ba’d-alshiddah.

An apparently different and, as it seems, enlarged translation, or rather adaptation of the same Arabic original, designated moreover in the following copy as ‘the second half’ (نصف ديگر) only, and made, according to the preface, at the request of the Sulṭân of Sind, Nâṣir-aldin Ḳubâćah(A.H. 607-625=A.D. 1210-1228). It belongs therefore to a somewhat later period than the preceding version. A translator’s name does not appear anywhere. A conjecture on the fly-leaf of the following copy suggests as such Muḥammad ‘Aufî, the author of the جوامع الحكايات and the لباب الالباب (the latter of which is in fact dedicated to Ḳubâćah’s wazîr, ‘Ain-al-mulk Ḥusain al-Ash’arî, see Rieu ii. p. 749).

Beginning: حمد و ثناء مكرّمى كه اِنْس را اُنْس بخشيد و جانّ را جانداد و نسيم روان را در چمن تن روان گردانيد و عقل را عاقلۀ قالب ساخت و معرفت ذات همچون خويش بدو حوالت ..... ; here follows a large blank, after which the preface continues in this way: قدر فرمان ملك معظّم خسرو اعظم مالك رقاب امم مولئ ملوك الترك و العجم ناصر الدنيا و الدين غياث الاسلام و المسلمين اعدل الملوك و اكرم السلاطين سلطان ارض الله ناصر عباد الله حافظ بلاد المؤيّد بنصرالله محرّز ممالك الدنيا مظهر العليا ابوالفتح قباچه الخ.

As to the subdivision into bâbs, there can be traced the following ones:

Bâb VI, on fol. 61b: باب ششم در ذكر جماعتى كه در ورطۀ هلاك افتادند و فضل حق تعالى ايشانرا خلاص داد،.

Bâbs VII and VIII are not found anywhere.

Bâb IX, on fol. 101a: باب نهم در ذكر جماعتى كه چنگ (بچنگ) سباع افتادند و پروردگار جلّ جلاله ايشانرا خلاص داد،.

Bâb X, on fol. 126a:باب دهم در عافيت دادن از امراض و اسقام بامر ملك علّام،

Bâb XI, on fol. 135a:باب يازدهم در ذكر جماعتى كه از دست شريران فتّان خلاص يافتند،.

Bâb XV, on fol. 285a:باب پانزدهم 1 در ذكر جماعتى كه از حبس و بند خلاص يافته اند و از زحمت خلاص گشته اند،.

Bâb XVI, on fol. 352b:باب شانزدهم در ذكر جماعتى كه در خواب بشارت نجات شنيده اند و در بيدارى از سر صدق ديده اند،.

Bâb XVII, on fol. 392b:باب هفدهم در ذكر جماعتى كه بمدد اتّفاق خوب از مكروه خلاص يافته اند و به نيل مقصود ومراد رسيده اند،.

Dated the 22nd of Ramadân, in the year تسعه ثمانين و خمسين (? Perhaps misspelt for تسعه مائه و ثمانين و خمس, A.H. 985=A.D. 1577, Dec. 3), in كرخ near Baghdâd. A seal of Muḥammad Farrukhsiyar (died A.H. 1131=A.D. 1719), on fol. 1a.
