International Comprehensive Ocean-Atmosphere Data Set (ICOADS) Historical Input Data Collections Archives from the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR)

This collection of data sets are all the ICOADS historical inputs formerly collected at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR). These data are needed to generate the most current release of ICOADS, which includes all of the ICOADS R2.5.1 (ICOADS 2.5 intermediate file with all duplicates and permanent Unique Identifiers for each record) and R2.5.2 (blended NCEI/NCEP GTS) products. It also includes all new data sources provided by digitization projects and updated research archives, such as the Global Tropical Moored Buoy Array from NOAA/PMEL. Additionally, near-real-time monthly updates from NCEI archive (DSI-1173) will be used. Files given by NCAR are in various data and compression formats, but provide global coverage from 1662-present. This data is intended to initiate the transfer of stewardship for all input datasets used in the production of ICOADS to NCEI systems, all the way back to COADS Release 1.0, with an immediate focus on data needed to successfully produce the current Release 3.0. The data are intended for internal use only at this time.
