PRESERVING AND PROMOTING INDIA'S INDIGENOUS KNOWLEDGE SYSTEMS: A COMPREHENSIVE FRAMEWORK FOR EDUCATION, RESEARCH, AND CULTURAL HERITAGE ADVANCEMENT

Abstract: The primary objective of the Indian knowledge system is to provide assistance and enable the pursuit of additional research endeavours in order to address and resolve present-day social challenges. IKS draws its foundations from the ancient texts of Vedic literature, specifically the Vedas and the Upanishads. The synchronisation of current IKS courses with digital learning platforms is a possibility. The development of modules aimed at enhancing the training and orientation of educators can potentially enhance the efficacy of classroom instruction in Indigenous Knowledge Systems (IKS) courses. In order to enhance the proficiency of teachers in the Indian Knowledge Systems, dedicated teacher training facilities would be established to provide specialised training on certain themes. In order to foster innovation in the field of Indigenous Knowledge Systems (IKS), many strategies will be employed, including the implementation of Grand National Challenges, National Competitions, Hackathons, and the provision of incentives to promote innovative practises. Global cooperation can be facilitated by institutes like the Indian Council of Historical Research (ICHR) to support the undertaking of research with a focus on India. The provision of initial seed cash will be allocated for the construction of Indigenous Knowledge Systems (IKS) institutes in several Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). Various techniques will be employed to engage the public and promote the widespread dissemination of authentic Indigenous Knowledge Systems (IKS) in order to cultivate a knowledgeable and self-assured citizenry. Individuals will actively participate in a diverse range of Indigenous Knowledge Systems (IKS) projects through Jan Bhagidari programmes, which have resemblance to citizen science initiatives. Skill-based programmes will be implemented to generate employment opportunities for young individuals. The objective of IKS is to advance the preservation and promotion of heritage technology by implementing technological solutions that effectively exhibit Indian history to both the domestic population and the global community.
