X-ray emission from the A0p star IQvirgulAur

We propose to use XMMNewton to obtain the first highresolution Xray spectrumof the peculiar magnetic Atype star IQvirgulAur. From previous Xray observationsIQvirgulAur is known as a strong, but very soft Xray source. In addition to theHAeBe star HDvirgul163296, IQvirgulAur is a very good candidate for an Atype star withintrinsic Xray emission. The XMMNewton RGS spectrum will strongly constrainthe location of the Xray emission site from a measurement or upper limit to thestrength of the OVII f/r line ratio, the overall RGS spectrum will determine theelemental abundances, which may be far from solar, and finally, the phasecoverage of the EPIC data will be sufficient to search for a rotationalmodulation of IQvirgulAur.s Xray flux. truncated!, Please see actual data for full text [truncated!, Please see actual data for full text]
