Leaves from five native Iranian Salvia species were collected during their flowering stage from four distinct provinces in Iran. To obtain cp genome sequence, total genomic DNA was extracted from 100 mg of fresh leaf tissue using the DNeasy Plant Mini Kit (QIAGEN, Germany). DNA samples were subsequently used for library preparation and sequencing on the Illumina HiSeq 2000 platform (Illumina Inc., USA) using a paired-end 150 bp read configuration.
