Prevalence, virulence factors and antimicrobial susceptibility of Cronobacter sakazakii isolated from different kind of food

Cronobacter sakazakii is a Gram-negative bacteria that causes bacteraemia, necrotizing enterocolitis, meningitis, and sepsis in neonates, infants, non-immunocompromised adult populations due to consumption of powdered infant formula. The presence of virulence factors contributes to the pathogenic potential. Besides of virulence factors, the antibiotic resistance in C. sakazakii is a serious problem due to infections caused by this pathogen require effective antibiotic treatments.
