The Journal was launched in 1975 after the 1974 British Association Meeting at Stirling in order to provide a medium for papers and information relevant to naturalist and historical interests of the Forth / mid Scotland area - i.e. that encompassed by the Stirling, Falkirk, and Clackmannanshire authorities. It complements and succeeds the Transactions of the Stirling Field and Archaeological Society published from 1878 to 1939.
