Zoning of Biosphere Reserves in the Community of Madrid

The layer collects the zoning of the Biosphere Reserves: — High basins of the Manzanares, Lozoya and Guadarrama rivers, designated as a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO on 9 November 1992, extended by UNESCO on 19 June 2019, at the request of the Community of Madrid – Sierra del Rincón, designated by UNESCO on 29 June 2005, extended by UNESCO on 15 June 2022, at the request of the Community of Madrid. Three zones differ: * Core areas, territories of protected natural areas or Natura 2000 network whose main objective is to preserve biodiversity and ecosystems. * Buffer zones, surrounding or bordering the core areas, where only activities compatible with conservation objectives can take place. Transition zone, where forms of sustainable exploitation of resources are encouraged and practiced.
