The Narrowing Self: Depressive Tendency Attenuates the Mother Reference Effect

This dataset contains the experimental data from the study titled "The Narrowing Self: Depressive Tendency Attenuates the Mother Reference Effect." In Experiment 1, 65 participants were initially selected through a screening scale, but one participant was excluded due to keypress errors, leaving 64 participants for analysis. This includes 32 participants with low depressive proneness (6 males, 27 females; M = 22.16 years, SD = 1.92) and 32 participants with high depressive proneness (10 males, 22 females; M = 20.87 years, SD = 1.52). In Experiment 2, a final sample of 60 participants was confirmed. Among them, there were 29 participants with low depressive proneness (6 males, 23 females; M = 20.17 years, SD = 1.34) and 31 participants with high depressive proneness (6 males, 26 females; M = 20.23 years, SD = 1.34). For Experiment 3, a total of 64 participants took part in the experiment. Two participants were excluded due to excessive EEG artifacts, and another two were excluded because their depression scores before and after the experiment were inconsistent, resulting in a final sample of 60 participants. This includes 30 participants in the low depressive proneness group (5 males, 25 females; M = 20.70, SD = 2.39) and 30 participants in the high depressive proneness group (8 males, 22 females; M = 20.30, SD = 1.56).
