The near complete mitochondrial genome of Amphiophiura penichra and Ophiocten ludwigi (Ohiuroidea, Ophiurina)

We determined the near complete mitochondrial genome sequences of Amphiophiura penichra and Ophiocten ludwigi belonging to subfamily Ophiurina. The mitochondrial genome of A. penichra and O. ludwigi were 15,996 and 17,847 bp in length and consisted of 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), two rRNA, and 22 tRNA, respectively. All initiation codons of PCGs were ATG, while almost of termination codons were TAA except for two PCGs each species. The overall G+C content of A. penichra and O. ludwigi mitochondrial genome is 33.15 and 33.14, respectively. Amphiophiura penichra made a clade with species of Ophiopygride, and Ophiocten ludwigi was nested in the genus Ophiura. These mitogenomes would be helpful for phylogenetic studies of Ophiuroideas.
