Ultra-Trace Lanthanum Accumulation in Human Liver Tissue: A Pioneering Case Study of Chronic Medical Exposure Enhanced by Artificial Intelligence
收藏资源简介:
This case study reports the first quantified detection of ultra-trace lanthanum in the liver tissue of a 45-year-old male with chronic kidney disease, exposed to lanthanum carbonate (3 g/day for 5 years) for hyperphosphatemia and six MRI scans with gadolinium-based contrast agents. Using inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) with AI-driven spectral analysis (Python, scikit-learn, random forest classifier), we measured lanthanum at 0.02 ± 0.005 µg/g, significantly above the detection limit (<0.001 µg/g) in controls (n=5). Histological analysis revealed mild hepatic inflammation (score: 1), suggesting potential subclinical effects. Chronic lanthanum carbonate is the likely primary source, with possible environmental contributions (e.g., contaminated water). AI improved detection sensitivity by 15%. The study highlights REE bioaccumulation risks and calls for interdisciplinary collaboration to develop standardized monitoring protocols, informing toxicological and environmental health policies. Data are available in Dryad [Accession ID].
