Cyclin B–Cdk1 inhibits protein phosphatase PP2A-B55 via a Greatwall kinase–independent mechanism

Time-lapse confocal and DIC imaging of the meiosis I spindle in a Greatwall (Gwl)-inhibited starfish oocyte is shown. An immature starfish oocyte was first injected with HiLyte 488-labeled α-tubulin (green) and Alexa 568-labeled histone H1 (magenta) and then injected with neutralizing anti-Gwl antibody along with ZZ-IBB (which can deliver cytoplasmically injected IgG into the nucleus). After 1-MeAde addition, live-cell images were obtained every 2 minutes during anaphase and telophase with 3.57 μm-distanced optical sections in the z-axis.
