Below-ground basic organic geochemistry data (organic carbon content, total nitrogen, carbon isotope, nitrogen isotope)

These data have been collected from sediment cores taken at 3 different elevations at all of our site pairs (Windstar Country Club natural and restored, Henderson Creek natural and restored, Fred and Idah Schultz Nature Preserve and the Kitchen, and E.G. Simmons Regional Park and the 19th Avenue mangrove wetland). Soil cores were sampled at regular depth intervals (1cm intervals down to 10 cm total depth, 2cm from 11-40 cm depth), sieved to capture the fraction of soils less than 63 micrometers in diameter, filtered, and dried. Samples for carbon isotopes and total organic carbon were also treated with 1 N hydrochloric acid on the filters to ensure no carbonate minerals were analyzed. Filters were hole-punched to subsample for analysis, and were encapsulated in tin for analysis by Elemental Analyzer.
