DNA-Seq and RNA-Seq of BALF and blood samples of kidney transplant recipients

To better understand pneumonia in KTRs, herein, we enrolled 30 KTR cases presenting pulmonary infection and admitted to the Shanghai Zhongshan Hospital during 2019 to 2024. Bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BAFL) and whole blood samples were collected from each cases. We performed metatranscriptomic sequencing of their whole-blood samples and performed both metagenomic and metatranscriptomic sequencings for each of BALF samples to for comprehensive analysis of the immune responses, microbiome, and infectome in this patients. In addition, the BALF samples which were collected from eleven healthy individuals in our pervious study (Shi et al, 2022), were used as controls and were processed according to the same protocols.
