This repository contains data collected in an online listening study that gathered ratings on musical excerpts categorised for the purposes of sleeping, relaxing, and energising. Two files are included, described below:## data_surveyresponsesFull survey responses including ratings and participant background info, including items from the STOMP (Rentfrow et al., 2011; Rentfrow & Gosling, 2003), TIPI (Gosling et al., 2003), and PSQI (Buysse et al., 1989) questionnaires and relevant calculated scores. Full questions are given in the headings, additional notes as follows:Q12 – Genres and personality categories from the STOMP questionnaire. Genres are rated on seven-point scales from (1) Strongly dislike to (7) Strongly like.Q13 – TIPI items rated from (1) Disagree strongly to (7) Agree strongly.Q14 – Responses to the question ‘Do you do/use any of the following to help with your sleep?’ rated on a five-point scale of frequency; 1 = Never, 2 = Sometimes, but rarely, 3 = Occasionally, 4 = Quite often, 5 = Always.Q15 – Selected items from Q14 that can be used passively and continuously rated for how they are used; 1 = Never, 2 = In the evening, before I go to bed, 3 = In the evening, in bed as I fall asleep, 4 = All night as I sleep.Q16 – Responses to the question ‘For the item/s you have selected in the questions above [Q14/15], how do you think they help you sleep?’ rated from (1) Strongly agree to (5) Strongly disagree.Q17-27 – PSQI questions.Q28 – Mood and alertness questions rated on nine-point scales (1-9). Headings indicate left | right poles of the scale.Q29-84 – Music ratings given on a nine-point scales (1-9) and open comment responses for each track.
