In order to gain molecular insight in the biology, ecology, and behavior of Tetranychus urticae and Phytoseiulus persimilis incubated at variable temperatures, we carried out 454 transcriptome sequencing for both mites. A cDNA library constructed from purified mRNA of T. urticae or P. persimilis incubated at 25 or 35 ˚C for 2 days was subjected to a one-quarter 454 run that yielded 279,160-309,061 reads all from the respective library. Of the high-quality reads after cleaning up the data, these were assembled into 14,613 and 20,650 contigs for T. urticae and P. persimilis, respectively. The T. urticae and P. persimilis contigs ranged in size from 75-12,557 bp and 67-13,043 bp with an average size of 1,186 bp and 1,164 bp, respectively.
