Domestication of wild animals is linked to rapid phenotypic divergence and gene expression changes. We hypothesized, that epigenetic changes rather than genetic mutations can likely explain phenotypic divergence during the early stages of animal domestication. This study provides DNA hydroxymethylome profiles of full-sib Nile tilapia with distinct growth rates during their early domestication.
