Macrophage/microglia triggered inflammatory response is continuously explored in type 2 diabetes (T2D) and T2D-related cognitive impairment. Noteworthy, Vitamin D (VD) is widely accepted to possess immunomodulatory properties. However, elderly T2D patients are the high-risk population for VD deficiency. The aim of current study is to determine whether VD deficiency worsens synaptic pruning by affecting macrophage/microglia polarization. RNA sequencing was used to locate the damaged area.
