These volumes record compensation and other payments relating to properties resumed for government purposes. The volumes were kept by the Resumed Properties Department and later the Valuer General.The properties were resumed under the Land for Public Purposes Acquisition Act of 1880 (Act 44 Vic. No.16) and the Public Works Act 1900 (Act No.26, 1900). The volumes include general resumptions, the Central Railway Extension Resumption (1903), the Police Barracks Resumption (1902), the Belmore Park to Fort Macquarie Tramway Resumption (1903), Pyrmont Resumption (1902), the White City Resumption (1921) and the Grafton to Casino Railway Resumption (from 1902). Details recorded are: Name and address of person or body (such as church trustees or companies); date; particulars (such as rent collected); advances; compensation; date paid; and remarks (such as memorandum of agreement signed, ministerial approval).There are indexes at the front of each volume.
