The opportunistic pathogen P. aerugionsa was evolved for 24 days in synthetic cystic fibrosis media in the presence or absence of the competitor S. maltophilia, during regular treatment with clinical concentrations of imipenem. The aim of this study was to investigate how interspecies interactions in the cystic fibrosis lung impacted the trajectory of resistance evolution in target pathogens.
